to the Nottinghamshire Chess Association (NCA).

If you are a new or experienced chess player looking to join a club in Nottinghamshire, you’ll find a map showing where they located and how to contact them in the Club Directory. New members are always welcome.

We organize a variety of team and individual events throughout the year. All the clubs take part in the Nottinghamshire League, which runs from September to May, with matches being played on weekday evenings. We also enter County Teams, for players of all strengths, in the Midland and National Championships. These are usually played on Saturdays over roughly the same period.

For individual players we run three main events. The County Championship and Nottingham Congress are played over a Saturday and Sunday (usually November and March respectively). The third is the Nottingham RapidPlay event, which is usually on a Sunday in February. All three have sections for players of all levels.

You can find details of all these in the Competitions section.

Those are the main events that we run, but we also have a Correspondence Chess team, run occasional special events and try to support any chess activity in the area when we can.

If you have any questions about what we do, or need to get in touch with any NCA officer, you’ll find how to contact them in the list of Officers. General enquiries should usually be addressed to the Secretary initially.

And finally, if you have some time to spare, you might like to read up on some of the History of the Association, or play through a variety of Games associated with the County.

We hope you find what you’re looking for
