The Executive Committee invites entries for Best Game Prizes 2025-2026. Qualifying games must be:

Played between 1 June 2025 and 31 May 2026

- Played Over the Board

ECF Rated

Played in an NCA associated competition or for any Nottinghamshire team, specifically

games in the Notts League
-
games in the Nottingham Congress
-
games in the County Championship
-
games representing a Nottinghamshire county team
-
games representing Ashfield in the 4NCL

There will be three sections: Best Game, Best Game Under 1800 and Best Swindle, each with a £20 prize. A Swindle is where an unlikely draw or even a win is achieved when in a most unfavourable position (not just a cunning trap/combination when the position is simply level or even better for the eventual winner).
Please send your entries to jt.swain777@gmail.com by 9.00 a.m. on Friday 5 June. Include the typed moves of the game (so they can easily be cut and pasted in a Word document and sent to the judge – not some format which my old laptop might refuse to open without a visit to the app store!) together with the names of the players, the date of the game, and the competition (e.g. league). You are welcome to add your own annotations as well, which will be included when the entries are published on the NCA website, but this is not essential.
